Forecast Discussion

A cold front heralding the arrival of some Arctic air will be preceded by increasing cloudiness today. A few showers will track into the Unifour and Yadkin Valley this evening, before ending after midnight.

Skies clear by Saturday morning, with just scattered clouds expected for the daytime as colder northwesterly winds pick-up and bring some legitimate winter temperatures to the area. Up in the NC mountains, snow showers will be flying through tomorrow night.

Temperatures will rival the coldest observed so far during this winter season Saturday night, as most places dip into the teens. Sunday will be bright and sunny but very cold.

After another very cold night Sunday night, sunshine on Monday will give way to more PM cloudiness as a weak storm system slides eastward through the Gulf Coast/Mid-South region. Precipitation arriving late Monday night could take the form of light snow until ending on Tuesday, perhaps as just light rain or drizzle. As a result of this wintry threat, we've dusted-off the Snowman-O-Mometer for the first time this winter and hoisted him to "dusting".
